It is widely used for the synthesis of other chemicals such as Butyl Acrylate, Butyl Methacrylate, Glycoethers or Esters such as Butyl Cellosolve, Butyl Acetate, Dibutyl Phthalate, melanin resins, Butylated Formaldehyde, Mono, Di and Tributylamines and Herbicides. It is also used as a direct solvent in all kinds of water-based and solvent-based paints.
